The KTK, after winning the toss opted to field first. DD started their innings with their usual openers David Warner and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Virender-Sehwag-c95429.
The openers did not provide a blistering start to the DD, the first wicket fell on just 21 runs. Sehwag was the first man to go to the pavilion, caught behind off the bowling of P Parameswaran after scoring 15 runs off nine balls with two boundaries and a six.
Wicketkeeper batsman NV Ojha came next after Sehwag. Warner was the second man to walk back into the hut after scoring just 13 off 15. He was caught by Vinay Kumar off the bowling of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/S-Sreesanth-c2398.
After the wicket of Warner, Yogesh Nagar came into bat. His partner Ojha could not stay much longer and went back after scoring just one run, also caught behind off the bowling of RP Singh.
The next man in was Venugopal Rao who crafted a solid partnership of 54 runs with Nagar. They both played exceptionally well and kept the board ticking before Nagar was caught by Singh off the bowling of Vinay Kumar.
TR Birt and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Venugopal-Rao-c2752 remained together for some time on the crease, taking the team’s total to 116. Venugopal went back to the pavilion after scoring 40 off just 36 balls.
Birt was the last man to return to the pavilion, his quick 27 took the DD total to 135.
DD ended up with a total of 140 runs for the loss of six wickets in their allotted quota of 20 overs.
The KTK started their innings in pursuit of an achievable target of 141. Their openers M Klinger and Brendon McCullum provided the KTK a blistering start of 61 runs in just 5.1 overs.
The openers played tremendously all around the wicket and did not afford a single chance to the DD bowlers to strike back.
The partnership was going strong untill McCullum was caught by U Yadav off the bowling of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Morne-Morkel-c77722. He played a blazing knock of 37 runs off just 19 balls and smashed five boundaries and two sixes.
The next man in was the wicketkeeper batsman PA Patel. He and Klinger played sensibly, however, after adding just 10 runs to the total KTK lost another wicket. Klinger was caught plumb in front of the wickets and adjudged LBW. He scored 18 runs off 20 balls and hit three boundaries.
KTK was on 71 runs after the loss of two vital wickets, skipper Mahela Jayawardene was the next man in, however, he could not impress his fans with the bat, getting run-out after scoring just 7 runs.
After Jayawardene’s unfortunate demise, Aussie batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brad-Hodge-c1184 came onto the crease with KTK’s total at 89. Brad’s knock did it for the KTK, he led them to victory. KTK reached the target with seven wickets in hand and five overs to spare.
