Kodak Z712 IS, 8GB SDHC memory card, & an SDHC reader?

Okay, I bought this 8GB SDHC memory card for my Kodak Z712 IS and I want to know if I have to buy an SDHC reader. To transfer pictures to my computer I just have to open the Kodak Easyshare program, and the pictures will just transfer. Do I still have to buy the SDHC reader? Or can I just keep transferring my pictures using the Kodak Easyshare software without worrying if my pictures will be lost or erased during transfer? Please HELP!

P.S.

I'm going on vacation, and I really don't want to be worrying if my pictures will be saved in the memory card, so please help.

  1. Personally I would use more smaller cards (all your eggs in one basket syndrome), you might have to upgrade your card reader as not all can handle HC cards. You can always use the camera as a drive of course, but a reader is the better option.

Your camera can handle HC spec cards so there's no worries there, your pictures will be stored on the card, its just that your card reader needs to be able handle them too. It won't erase the card it just won't work.
