Koeman latest candidate to manage Villa
Dutch manager Ronald Koeman has expressed his interest in the managerial vacancy at English Premier League side Aston Villa.
Villa have been without a manager since Martin O'Neill abruptly left the club shortly before the start of the league season in August.
A rift between O'Neill and the club's management over transfer policy was reported to be the reason for his exit.
United States manager Bob Bradley was said to be interested in taking charge of Villa before he extended his contract with the national team this week.
Koeman, who last managed Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in 2009, is now said to be Villa's main target.
Koeman experienced – outside of England
The Dutchman, who has also coached Vitesse, Ajax, PSV Eindhoven and Valencia during his managing career, has confirmed his interest in the job.
"I think I would do a good job, I think I have enough experience in the last 10 years after working in Holland, where I was league champion, and working in Portugal, Spain... in that case my experience is enough," Koeman told BBC Sport.
"If they are looking for a manager with Premier League experience then of course I cannot come. I have enough experience but not in English football."
Moyes, Eriksson and MacDonald also being considered
The club has been connected with several other names over the past month. Everton manager David Moyes and former England and Manchester City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson have been among them.
Current assistant manager Kevin MacDonald has put yet another option on Villa's table by saying that he would like to be considered as head manager for the club.
"It would help me being in the position. That would put me in a more favourable position than people who come in from the outside," MacDonald, who has been left temporarily in charge of the club since O'Neill's departure, said on Sunday.
