Koen Ridder overpowers Maxime Michel in Men’s Singles contest at European Club Championships
Netherlands’ Koen Ridder made his presence felt when he overpowered Maxime Michel of France in the Men’s Singles contest at European Club Championships 2012 in Hungary, on Friday, June 1.
The impressive Ridder, who has been showing his skills in all matches in this club championship, put up superb show by working extremely hard and remained successful in beating Maxime in a hard-fought three-set encounter.
The Dutch shuttler played wonderful badminton against his French rival and won the battle in three games while taking 60 minutes in the court.
On the other hand, Maxime found a good start when he took the first set but failed to put up strong show in the following sets and lost the battle to his Dutch opponent with a decent score on the board.
In the first set, both men showed their elite skills by pushing each other in all corners and also progressed closely on the score board until the one-minute interval in the game.
After the break, the French continued his positive play while Ridder became a little sluggish and also committed a few errors. He eventually lost the first game with a decent 19-21 score on the board.
In the following set, it was a completely different strong as Ridder showed his real class in this set.
Stung by the loss of first game Ridder powered his way back into the game by putting up thrashing show of attacking badminton. Until the one-minute break, the Dutch shuttler set up a huge lead on the board.
After the break, Ridder continued his elevated and staggering performance in the court and easily won the set with an incredible margin of 21-6.
In the decider, Maxime played aggressive and positive badminton in the opening half of the game and remained close to his Dutch opponent until the break.
After the interval, Ridder changed his strategy and disturbed the rhythm of his opponent by playing impressive badminton at net. He was focused in the game and wrapped it up by a 21-17 score on the board.
Ridder emerged as the winner against Maxime in this mouth-watering fight with a tremendous margin of 19-21, 21-6 and 21-17.
