  1. if you got the same size as swordtails and tetras or they will be swallowed by koi temporary only if they are in the same size. When the koi get big you got a problem, I got 10 guppies eaten by two 5 inches kois.  Koi can be mixed with common goldfish, shubunkins, hammerheads.

  2. Koi need to be kept in ponds because they grow to be 2 feet long. They also need cooler water than tropical fish.

  3. no koi are coldwater pond only fish

unless you have a 1000 gallon tank

  4. It's really best just to leave the koi to themselves however they can be communal with common goldfish and comets.  I had a koi in my tank with a couple of tetras and it picked on them all the time unfortunately.   I had to eventually surrender it to a pet store that sold them.

Whatever you do, make sure that you really study up on the proper care so you know what you're doing.  Koi are very unlike other fish and if cared for properly can live 200 years or longer.

  5. only if the koi are small, once they get like a foot long they'll eat anything small and slow enough to catch.  also koi give off emense amounts of ammonia that kills sensitive tetras and other small schooling fish. they need cooler water than most schooling fish too.

  6. Koi get quite big.  They are primarily bottom feeders (in ponds) but if the opportunity presented itself I don't think they would hesitate to eat a smaller fish if they could catch up to it.
