Kolbeinn Sigthorsson claims he is both physically and mentally strong – Dutch Eredivisie news
Ajax Amsterdam’s Kolbeinn Sigthorsson has stressed that he is not only physically but also mentally strong. The youngster damaged his ankle in his side’s 1-0 loss against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Groningen-c39119 at Euroborg on October 2.
Sigthorsson underwent a scan on Wednesday, October 5, that revealed a stress fracture in his right ankle that will keep him out of action for the next three months. The Icelandic ace, who arrived at Amsterdam Arena in the summer transfer window, was utterly
disappointed after hearing out about his serious injury.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar coach, Gertjan Verbeek, had casted doubts on the Icelandic International’s caliber early on, and it has prompted a strong response from the 21-year-old, who strongly believes that he can compete at the highest levels with Ajax.
“I read that he wondered whether I can physically handle Ajax. Of course I can. I am not only physically but also mentally strong. I have shown this under Verbeek and in the few months at Ajax. Earlier this year, Verbeek didn’t know on what position I should
play. And now, he knows everything about me. That’s ridiculous”, Sigthorsson said while talking to the media.
The promising striker then went on to reveal that he feels the Ajax are the right club for him.
“For me, Ajax is the right club, with a coach who sees me sitting in it. I will do everything to recover as quickly as possible. I would like to score and win for Ajax, and make the fans happy. I’ll come back strongly”, Sigthorsson concluded.
Since his arrival in Amsterdam, the Icelandic International has spearheaded the Amsterdammers attack in all league fixtures and managed to hit the back of the net five times.
With Sigthorsson now sidelined until the winter break, the Amsterdammers boss Frank De Boer has to rely upon http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dmitri-Bulykin-c11392 for the next three months.
The Russian ace arrived at Amsterdam Arena on the final day of the summer transfer window on a free transfer from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/RSC-Anderlecht-c40394. Although the former Russian International has so far only managed to make two appearances for the Amsterdammers, he will be
hoping to lead De Joden’s attack pack impressively in the absence of the Icelandic ace.
