Kolkata Knight Riders captain Gautam Gambhir hopes to recover for next game – IPL news
Kolkata Knight Riders captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kerala-c803 on Thursday, May 5, 2011.
The KKR skipper concluded that his injury was of minor nature and a day’s rest would be enough for him to heal from it.
The left-hander, who plays for Indian cricket team, was seen to be in pain in his knee during the game against Deccan Chargers that they were playing away from home at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hyderabad-c792 on Tuesday, May 3, 2011.
Gambhir was delighted with the show his team put on and gave them full credit for that. He acknowledged the efforts of his bowlers who confined the home team to a low total after a good start.
The Indian cricketer also welcomed Mark Boucher to his side and was optimistic that he performs with the bat in the upcoming matches.
Gambhir said, “It was a professional effort from everyone, and it was a good performance from our bowlers to restrict them. It is good to have Boucher and we hope he chips in with the bat as well. I had a bit of pain in the knee and hopefully I should recover
for the next game.”
The Knight Riders continued their good run in the ongoing season of the IPL by emerging victorious over Deccan Chargers. With the win, they are now placed on top of the points table. Chargers, on the other hand have slipped down to number six.
Batting first, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Knight-c71599 Riders piled up a huge total thanks to some great power hitting by Yusuf Pathan. The hard-hitting right-handed batsman scored 47 runs from 26 deliveries which included 3 towering sixes and 3 fours. It was due to his efforts that
the Kolkata-based team reached a huge total of 169 runs.
Pathan, who bowls off-spin, was quite impressive with the ball as well though he remained wicketless. From the three overs that he bowled, the all-rounder only conceded 19 runs which helped in pushing up the required run rate for the Chargers.
Pathan was declared the man of the match for his all-round efforts. The all-rounder thanked god for his blessing and also appreciated his skipper who encouraged him to play his natural game which paid dividends for the team.
Deccan Chargers skipper Kumar Sangakkara was devastated by dismal fielding as his side dropped a couple of catches at crucial stages which enabled KKR to reach a good total.
Sangakkara said, “We should have limited them to around 150-155. Our openers tried hard and delivered a solid start. We need to hold our catches, bowl well in the death overs and build on solid starts. Kolkata outplayed us and it's back to the drawing board
for us.”
