Kolkata Knight Riders’ coach Dav Whatmore feels experience of Mark Boucher will be useful
Kolkata Knight Riders’ coach Dav Whatmore feels Mark Boucher’s experience of playing on the Subcontinent tracks will help the side a lot in their upcoming Indian Premier League matches.
“Boucher is a very experienced campaigner. He has got a lot of experience of the sub-continent which is equally important,” said Whatmore while talking to the media ahead of his team’s match against Deccan Chargers at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium
in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hyderabad-c792 on Tuesday.
“He comes as a highly qualified player and we have this opportunity to have Mark for rest of the season. We are looking up to him to give his best,” Whatmore added further.
The 57-year-old former Australia Test cricketer said that Boucher’s ability to fit into any role in the batting order makes him a very versatile cricketer.
Boucher has recently joined the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Knight-c71599 Riders as a replacement for their injured wicketkeeper Brad Haddin.
Haddin picked up a finger injury during http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823 wicketkeeper batsman flew home
to have a surgery on his fractured finger.
The KKR management later announced the former South Africa wicketkeeper as Haddin’s replacement for the remaining part of the ongoing IPL season.
Boucher, who has not made a limited overs side for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 since June 2010, had represented Royal Challengers Bangalore in the past three editions of the League.
The Shah Rukh Khan-owned Kolkata Knight Riders stand second on the points table with 5 victories from 8 matches so far and Whatmore said that they are looking forward to continue the winning momentum.
“We are looking to continue and win as many games as possible,” said the Sri Lanka-born at the pre-match media conference. “There is still a lot of cricket to be played in the competition. Slipping up is really not on the agenda like any other team. We lost
some games too but we are back to the winning ways. We would like to continue in the similar fashion.”
Whatmore also hailed the in-form batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Manoj-Tiwary-c1890 for his startling performance in the latest edition of money-spinning League.
He also denied the possibility of the toss in deciding the outcome of his side’s match against the Kumar Sangakkara-led Deccan Chargers.
