Kolkata Knight Riders flying high after defeating Delhi Dare Devils – IPL 4 Recap

KKR won the match by 17 runs and are now second only to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians in Indian Premier League.
Delhi on the other hand, has slipped down to the bottom of the table with this defeat.
The Daredevils were hosting the match against Kolkata, winning the toss, Delhi opted to field first. KKR scored 148 runs, in reply Delhi could only muster a weak 131, losing the match.
The KKR squad had gone through a few changes, they rested the Australian wicket-keeper Brad Haddin while http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shreevats-Goswami-c2518 kept wickets in his absence.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hasan-c61990 also failed to retain his spot, being replaced with Ryan Ten Doeschate.

Sehwag had won the toss and called to field, hoping to limit the KKR to manageable total.
Both, batting and bowling started off with a South African and Indian combination. Jacques Kallis and Goswami opened for the KKR while http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Morne-Morkel-c77722 took the new ball for Delhi.
KKR openers could not settle down as Irfan bowled Kallis out in the 5th over. Kallis had scored 11 runs and KKR were on 29 for 1.
Gambhir, the KKR skipper, came in at number three to support Goswami but the 7th over saw Agarkar dismissing Goswami on 22.
The skipper and Manoj then helped steady the ship, piling up 40 runs for the third wicket. Gambhir however, fell to Hopes on 18 runs, stranding KKR with 82 runs on the board.
As Gambhir fell in the 12th over, Yusuf Pathan came in at number six. The 15th over saw both Pathan and Eoin Morgan walk back to the pavilion. Morgan went on a duck.
Tiwary however, found a reliable partner in Doeschate who along with the Indian, contributed 35 vital runs for the sixth wicket at 8.75 runs per over.
KKR were able to post 148 runs on the board by the end of the 20th over. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Manoj-Tiwary-c1890 remained unbeaten on 61, an invaluable contribution to his side.
Delhi started off with the usual suspects, Warner and Sehwag. Balaji struck an early blow, dismissing David Warner leg before wicket.
With Warner down, Sehwag took charge and scored 34 runs with the help of five fours and one six. Hopes supported Sehwag in the stand, scoring 25 off 30.
Once Sehwag went in the 7th over, wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals. Hopes could only continue till the 15th over.
After the two, only Yogesh Nagar and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Venugopal-Rao-c2752 managed to reach double figures and saved Delhi’s face somewhat. Iqbal Abdullah and Balaji shared 5 wickets between themselves, crumbling the Delhi lineup.
Delhi Required 26 to win from the last two overs, it was fairly possible but when two wickets fell in the 19th over, Delhi’s chances went south.
The hosts finished 17 runs short of victory, slipping down to the bottom of the points table.
