Kolkata Knight Riders v Auckland: It is good to make some mistakes and still win, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JH-Kallis-c1692 - Cricket News Update
Kolkata Knight Riders' skipper, Jacques Kallis, reckons that his side needs to learn from the mistakes that they made in the match against Auckland Aces, played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hyderabad-c792.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, Knight Riders, was taken down to the wire by New Zealand’s cricket club Auckland. But despite all the drama, KKR managed to pull off a two-run win.
Kallis seemed to be content with the results as the win will further their chances of qualifying for the Champions League T20. The South African cricketer, referring to IPL season four, where his side lost a few close encounters
and thus was forced to play the qualifying round, said that it is good make some mistakes and still win.
Expressing his views during the match presentation, Kallis said, “We knew the wicket was tough, so we tried and restricted them. In the IPL we lost one or two tight ones, so it is good to get a winning start. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Auckland-c766 fielded very
well. We tried too hard, and got into trouble. So there were some lessons to take there. It is good to make some mistakes and still win.”
The match between Auckland and KKR was dominated by bowlers; the South African cricketer won the toss and decided to bat. Kallis, along with Manvinder Bisla, laid a solid foundation for his side but the incoming batsmen failed
to build on their work - thus Kolkata were restricted to 121 from their quota of 20 overs.
Bisla was the highest scorer from KKR side with a score of 45. The wicket-keeper batsman was bestowed with the Man of the Match award for the performance exhibited by him.
“Both teams were 20 runs or so short, I am pleased we finished on top. The plan was for me to attack and Kallis to bat through. Binga (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brett-Lee-c48419) and everyone else bowled really well to pull it back,” shared Bisla.
Lee was indeed the talisman for Kolkata as the bowler held his nerves in the final over to register a win for KKR. The aging pacer would be hoping to avoid such a close finish next time around, when his side gears up to host http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Somerset-c843
on Wednesday, September 21.
