Kolkata Knight Riders 190/4 (20/20 ov) - Kolkata Knight Riders and chose to bat
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) gave an explosive batting performance by bolstering a mammoth tally of 190 runs in the 38th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), against Royal Challengers Bangalore in a match that is being played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
KKR, who are just behind http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils as the second best team in the tournament this year, had the advantage of playing on home turf and immediately after winning the toss, they chose to bat first in a bid to gain an upper hand on their rivals by hammering an unbeatable total.
“We would want to put runs on board and hope our spinners can do the job for us. We want to go out and play freely,” said KKR skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447.
Meanwhile, RCB were also hoping to restrict the opposition from getting away with things as skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DL-Vettori-c1384 on losing the toss said, “This is a huge game. We realise that this is the game we need to win else we will fall back again. We would have batted first as well, the wicket might turn later on. We need to adapt well.”
Earlier, on starting their innings, KKR openers, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BB-McCullum-c1129 and Gambhir blasted at the bowlers without allowing them to acclimatise. This brought an opening partnership of 95 runs before the loss of the first wicket with McCullum heading back in the stands after smashing an innings of 43 runs off 37 deliveries.
Gambhir was then joined by all-rounder, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JH-Kallis-c1692, which gave birth to another daunting partnership, adding more misery to the fielding side.
The KKR skipper was phenomenal today, as he exhibited exceptional class by crafting some of the finest shots in modern-day cricket.
The two batsmen literally took the game out of RCB’s hands as they steered the side to a total of 175 runs before RCB finally saw Gambhir heading for the showers after piling 93 runs off 51 deliveries.
Kallis then hammered a knock of 41 runs as he played his role in helping his side amass a stinging total on the board for the loss of four wickets.
RCB now have their work cut out for them and would need to work together to regroup in order to successfully chase down the required target in 20 overs.
