The Kolkata Knight Riders skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gautam-Gambhir-c58623 won the toss and opted to field first in their Indian Premier League clash against Kochi Tuskers Kerala on a fresh pitch, at the Nehru Stadium in Kochi.
The KKR captain reckoned the Nehru pitch was good for batting but decided to put the opposition in to bat, keeping in mind his team’s success while chasing in the ongoing 2011 IPL season so far.
The visitors have made one change to their playing XI, resting right arm medium pacer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lakshmipathy-Balaji-c1826. The 24-year-old Patiala leg-spinner, Sarabjit Ladda has been brought in for Balaji.
Kochi, however, have played an unchanged squad from their previous game against Delhi Daredevils, which the former had convincingly won by seven wickets. Nevertheless, the hosts have made a change in their batting order as the captain,
Mahela Jayawardene will bat in the middle order to give the side some much needed flexibility.
The home ground has not been a good ally of Kochi so far in the tournament as they have won only one match here. Today’s game against Knight Riders is their last fixture at the venue. The home skipper said that the Kochi deck looks
pretty good and hoped it will play better than the previous tracks at Nehru Stadium.
Whilst Kochi are currently placed in the bottom half of the points table with four wins in nine matches, King Khan’s Knight Riders stand at the top of the table just behind Mumbai Indians. With six wins in nine matches, the visitors
trail http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 by 2 points.
