Kolkata business community rues hours wasted over KKR celebrations – Cricket News Update
Amid the ongoing celebrations and felicitations in Kolkata after the Knight Riders won their first Indian Premier League title, people have raised concerns over the economic loss caused by the state coming to a stand-still.

offices.

with full backing from the Mamata Banerjee-led state machinery.
“Today was a nice occasion to disobey the rules, to skip office. But what will Kolkata gain from KKR's triumph? KKR will get all the prize money. But will it enlighten our state? Will (KKR co-owner) Shah Rukh Khan set up an industry?” questioned an economics
professor of Jadavpur University, who wished to remain unnamed.
“Business hours are being wasted felicitating Mr Shah Rukh http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 on a bigger picture if viewed,” said Ruchhita Kazaria,
who owns the Aarcee Enterprises advertisement agency.
In addition to the work hours lost, the celebrations have also been criticised for being unnecessarily extravagant. The costs that went into organizing the event, in addition to the gifts of golden chains which were presented to each player from the squad,
caused citizens to question the Chief Minister’s actions, as she had earlier stated the state was too poor to give the players anything but good wishes.
