The tactician praised the striker’s sensational form this season and insisted that the German international is going nowhere despite recent speculation.
The manager added that the Koln forward has silenced his critics after a brilliant start to the current campaign and his goals have been critical in the club’s impressive run so far in the league. He responded to recent rumours
relating to the striker’s possible transfer to Schalke by claiming that the player will certainly honour his contract.
Podolski has so far scored 13 times in the 14 appearances he has made for Koln this season and been in terrific form. The striker scored a total of 14 goals in 34 appearances last season and is certain to pass that feat in this
campaign.
Solbakken claimed that Podolski is definitely amongst the best strikers in the Bundesliga and can still become better. The boss insisted that the player is enjoying his football at the moment and has shown massive improvement in
his performances from the previous campaign.
“Lukas is at the best and highest level in the Bundesliga. He is enjoying his football. He has improved a lot tactically and he is now strong even without the ball and defends well. The pressure from outside may be very high, but
Lukas is proving that he is mentally strong,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The manager also voiced his admiration for goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Rensing-c25366 and stated that the shot stopper’s performances have been top-notch this season. He added that the player has been very consistent between the sticks and is
a huge asset for the club.
“Michael is one of the best goalkeepers in the league. He regularly shows great courage and will. I can be very happy with him,” he concluded.
FC Koln are currently sitting in 10th place with 20 points from the 15 games played. The team has won six times and has tasted defeat on seven occasions. They next face http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FSV-Mainz-05-c38166 at home on Tuesday, December 13, and
