Blackburn Rovers boss Steve Kean confirmed that Vince Grella was out for the rest of the season. The 31-year-old defensive midfielder underwent and Achilles operation and will no longer be able to participate in the remainder of the season.
The Australia international has only made seven appearances for Bolton this season, only two since October, adding up to an extremely inconsistent season. Even though he will be out for this season, Kean expects Grella to be back for next season.
Kean admitted that Grella had had a frustrating season with injuries, he said while speaking to reporters, “It has been hard for Vinny because he's picked up niggly injuries and this one has been quite a big operation on his Achilles.”
Kean confirmed the Australian would miss the rest of the season, he continued, “He has had the plantaris removed and hopefully he can get some rehab under his belt and look forward to an injury-free season next season. I think he won't play again this season.”
Injury to make http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stuart-Holden-c34260 stronger
Bolton boss Owen Coyle was hopeful that Stuart Holden would come back from injury stronger than before. The 25-year-old American has been ruled out for the rest of the season after a tackle from Manchester United’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jonny-Evans-c19085 two weeks ago.
Not only will Holden miss the remainder of this season, he will also miss out the start of the next campaign. However, Coyle refused to give up on the midfielder who is no stranger to long term injuries, having previously suffered a broken leg.
The American midfielder has been one of Coyle’s best players despite suffering a broken leg last season. However, he recovered just in time for the 2010 World Cup and put in superb performance for his country before returning back to his club.
Coyle said while speaking to reporters, “Let's hope it's sooner than that but what we have to make sure is it's the right time and we're not rushing people back in, because it would be detrimental to everything we're trying to do.”
