Kolo Toure calls on Manchester City team-mates to make up for defeats
Manchester City midfielder Kolo Toure has called on his team-mates to bounce back from consecutive English Premier League defeats.
The Eastlands side have lost their last two games in the division, as they fell 3-0 to Arsenal on 24 October at home before losing 2-1 to Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux on 30 October.
Those back-to-back losses have seen pressure mount on City manager Roberto Mancini, but Ivory Coast international Toure is keen to ease the burden on the Italian by urging his colleagues to help the side return to winning ways.
He told reporters that: "We need to take more responsibility. When you play for one of the richest clubs in the world, you just need to deliver on the pitch."
Heavy investment
City have invested heavily in their squad over the last few years as they attempt to become the dominant team in English football.
This summer alone, they spent over £100m bringing in the likes of Toure, England international James Milner and 2010 FIFA World Cup winner David Silva.
With such a large financial outlay comes the pressure to bring results, so the losses have put the club under the spotlight with some negative media attention.
It has been reported that several players have been at odds in the dressing room over their poor performances on the pitch, while Emmanuel Adebayor and Vincent Kompany were in a heated discussion during the defeat to Wolves.
However, when asked if there were any rifts in the squad, Toure said: "No, not at all. We are a team and in any team there are problems but the important thing is to try to resolve them in the dressing room and the training camp. The criticism is good because
that will make us work harder.”
City have won just five of their ten league games this season and are eight points behind leaders and defending EPL champions Chelsea.
