Kolohe Andino clinches the 2011 ASP North America Pro Juniors Series Title
America’s Kolohe Andino has secured the 2011 Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) North America Pro Juniors Series Title.
The 17-year-old Californian exhibited exceptional form throughout the season, managing to make his way into the finals in every ASP North America Pro Junior event this year. The consistency with which the young Californian prodigy has performed this year
allowed him to reach the milestone of taking home the regional title, something that had been on his things-to-do list for quite some time now.
Commenting on his success in the current ASP North America Pro Junior season, Andino said, “That was my main goal to win the title this year. I wanted to win because Evan (Geiselman) won it last year, and he beat me fair and square, I was in all of the events
and he won. I’m glad to have it checked off my list. I’ve ended up in all of the finals so far this year, I started off with those first two good results and the rest of the year went well for me.”
Throughout the year, Andino has justified the hype of him being one of the deadliest young-gun to emerge from Californian in over two decades. The San Clemente-based surfer has proven to be wiser beyond his years on numerous occasions and is continuously
maturing into an even stronger force with each passing year.
Andino has been absolutely on fire lately and steadily making his way up on the ASP World Rankings. At the last ASP Prime event, US Open of Surfing at Huntington Beach, California, the young sensation showed everyone what he was really made of. Despite pitted
against the top surfers from around the world, he managed to make his way into the semi-finals before eventually falling victim to Australia’s Yadin Nicol.
The Californian sensation also managed to get a similar result in the last ASP 6-Star event, Sooruz Lacanau Pro in France, where he once again managed to advance to the finals, before surrendering victory to Brazil’s Gabriel Medina.
Currently, Andino is competing at the Vans Pro Junior in Virginia, America, and looking as lethal as ever. Just a few hours ago, he won his Round of 64 and Round of 32 heats with a convincing margin to advance further in the competition.
