Komen group and Legends Tour to hold 18-scramble event in September
Komen group, in cooperation with the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Legends Tour, is going to stage a one-day tournament at The Rail Golf Course in September.
According to the details, Komen group will be holding an eighteen-hole scramble tournament in September, which is planned to be converted into a full event for the next year.
Officials said that the full event will be associated with the Women’s Legends Golf Tour.
Komen group is working to help eradicate breast cancer, and its move to organize a golf event will prove beneficial for the entity itself and the sport as well.
Chief Executive Officer of the Legends Tour, Lane Blalock appreciated the efforts of Komen group, saying she is glad to see another tournament being planned on the Tour.
She said that the Tour officials are thankful to the group, as the event will help project the image of the Legends Tour.
Blalock, herself has been a prominent star in women’s golf, as she racked up 27 titles on the LPGA.
She further shared that since the LPGA Tour has been churning out competent players for decades, veteran players really feel the need to gain recognition even after being out of the pro Tour.
Blalock said that she is quite thrilled that she is going to see past LPGA stars display their skills on the Rail Golf Course.
“The Legends Tour is grateful to Komen and The Rail for making this event a reality. It is a bonus for everyone involved that the temporary void of world-class women’s golf will be filled by the greatest names in the history of the LPGA, many of whom are
past champions,” she commented.
Blalock was particularly grateful to the Rail Golf Club, saying she the Club reminds veteran players of gold old times.
“The Rail Golf Club and the community hold so many special memories for all of our players. This reunion signifies a homecoming we will anticipate for years to come”.
Linda Maricle, who is the Executive Director of the Memorial Affiliate of Komen, expressed her desire that the 18-hole scramble tournament dubbed ProAm is going to attract LPGA legends as well current players.
