Manchester City captain, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vincent-Kompany-c36184 has gone on to state that City are no longer the favourites to claim the Premier League title.
Following the conclusion of the previous season, City were being hailed as the favourites to retain the league title, but following the additions that the numerous clubs have made to their squads, Kompany doesn’t feel that way.
City managed to get their season off with a band, as they managed to beat Chelsea by three goals to two on Sunday, in the Community Shield game.
Despite that win, Kompany has his fair share of concerns for this coming season and feels that the team will have to put in a lot of effort, if they are to end up coming out on top.
"It's going to be a very interesting season again," Kompany told the FA's official website.
"I wouldn't say we are favourites but it doesn't matter; if we can improve on last season then I'll be very happy."
In the game against Chelsea, Yaya Toure, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 and Ryan Bertrand also managed to find the back of the net.
Even though City seemed to be the more dominant side in the game, their captain n is not getting carried away just yet and thinks that the team needs to really get their heads straight and focus on the upcoming challenge.
"We deserved to win, but it's going to be a tough league because you can see http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 have got qualities as well," he added.
City are yet to add a lot of depth to their squad and so far, they have only gone on to bring in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019.
Even though the team hasn’t added to their roster yet, they still seem more than competent to winning the league title this coming season.
The squad is coming together as a unit and with everyone now having played alongside each other, they are bound to run riot in the league this coming season.
