Manchester City’s captain, and Belgian international, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vincent-Kompany-c36184 has gone on to dismiss the idea of introducing nets in order to separate the fans from the pitches during football games.
At the moment, the FA is currently considering the potential of doing something along those lines, as they feel that fans these days have started to get a little too violent for their own good.
The most recent incident occurred during the Manchester derby, which saw a very heated game end on an even more negative note.
Following the match winning goal scored by Robin Van Perise, the United fans ran up into the stands to celebrate. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rio-Ferdinand-c31173 tried to provoke the City fans, and this resulted in a coin being pelted towards his face. As a result the player got a decent
gash above his eye, and had to have stitches put in.
Kompany is well aware of the incident and just how things played out, but he feels that putting the nets in would see the fans being treated like animals, and that is only going to make them a whole lot angrier.
When talking about the possibility of the nets being introduced and the draw backs that they might introduce with them, the centre back is reported to have said: "I hope actions will be taken but let's not forget where football has come from and how far
it has come"
"It is never a good thing to happen, not just for Manchester City or Manchester United, but for football.”
"I would definitely say we need action on prevention but keep treating fans as human beings and not animals that have to be behind cages.”
"I do think we should take action against these incidents and I have heard a lot of suggestions about putting up nets and everything.”
"But the fact we are able to put people outside of cages is something that makes the English game so much more special."
Nonetheless, it is now up to the FA to decide just what it is that they want to do in regards to the whole net situation.
