Manchester City’s captain, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 from Arsenal, since the player has helped the team tremendously this season.
Van Persie went on to make the switch from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 to United at the start of the season, and since then, he has gone on to become United’s leading goal scorer.
His exploits in front of goal have made him the leading goal scorer for the team, and he is looking to be rather lethal these days.
Kompany feels that Van Persie usually proves to be the difference when United step out on the pitch and that he has been rather instrumental for the team this season.
"United hit the jackpot with Van Persie," Kompany said in a recent interview.
"But you can’t think 'What if' about Van Persie. I am not sitting here thinking, 'What if we had signed Lionel Messi' either.”
"His transfer has made a direct impact but to say he’s the reason we can’t make it - if it turns out that way - is not correct. I still believe we can do this but if we don’t, there will be plenty more reasons than the fact we didn’t sign one player and
another club did."
The player then went on to talk about the fact that his team had evolved a lot this season, since they were looking to play with a whole lot more consistency.
The team is sitting well behind United in the race for the Premier League title this season, but the Belgian international is confident that his side will be able to turn things around with thirteen games left to play.
"This season we haven't always shown that we are the best. We have to accept that. But we still have 13 games left and every one we play is potentially one of those great performances that changes everything."
Nonetheless, it is now going to be interesting to see if Van Persie can maintain his form over the remainder of the season, or if the blue side of Manchester can go on and catch up with the league leaders.
