i have the 2007 kona coiler, i want to upgrade the fork to have way more travel like a downhill bike, but i hear you cant just put on a downhill suspension on that bike, so what are some good upgrade options for me? I want as much suspension as i can get.

  1. if you own a coiler thats pretty dh already...

  2. Yes that is true.  Its not good to go with more travel than what it is designed for.  It will put more stress in places where its not made for.  I believe your bike was designed around a 150mm travel fork.  I wouldn't recommend going more than 10mm over.  Also it will make it a little harder to climb.  I went 10mm over on my bike and I noticed a big difference.

I think the most your going to get is a 160mm travel fork.

For the price your going to pay to get a fork with more travel.  You might want to look around and try to buy a complete bike with the fork your looking for. Look at Jensonusa.com for new bikes and the classifieds in some mountain biking forums.
