Kona/hayes bikes and brakes

Question

i have a 2006 kona hoss with the terrible hayes sole brakes. i did have a 2005 model with the excellent hayes hfx-9 brakes tilll someone nicked it. why have kona downgraded brakes for the 2006 model. Now they have the superb hayes stroker brakes as standard. I feel like i have been conned by having the 2006 model

At least they corrected the error.  I'm sure it was to keep the costs down on the 2006.....do you like the fork on your Hoss ?
