Konami announces GamesCom presence – Video Games Update
Konami will be showing off its latest offerings at GamesCom, from August 15 to 19. Konami has also stated that it will announce two additional titles in the Castlevania: Lords of Shadows series.
Other games that will be on display by Konami include Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 (PES2013), the spin-off to the highly successful Metal Gear series by Kojima Productions, Metal Gear Rising Revengeance (MGRR) which is being developed by Platinum games, the
creators of the Devil May Cry games, Bayonetta and the recently released high octane action shooter Vanquish.
MGRR is not your traditional Metal Gear game, much to the dismay of the hardcore fans of the series. The title does not feature ‘Snake’ the usual protagonist of the series, instead we play as Raiden, who is now a cyborg ninja. MGRR will be all about fast
paced action game-play and the new cutting mechanic that was developed for this game which lets you slice through anything in the game.
Metal Gear Rising Revengeance looks more like Devil May Cry rather than a Metal Gear game but Konami claims that the original Metal Gear team is keeping a close watch on the project. Rumours are that the game will be released on the February 2, 2013 but
Konami has refused to comment.
Konami stated that there will be a playable demo of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate for the Nintendo 3DS at the show. Mirror of Fate is a tie-in game for the first Lord of Shadows and the recently announced sequel Lords of Shadows 2.
Konami just showed an impressive CGI trailer for Lords of Shadows 2 at their e3 conference but since the first game was well received by the gamers and critics alike despite borrowing much of its game-play elements from God of War and Shadow of the Colossus.
Fans are anxious to see what the sequel will play like and if there will be a new main protagonist as it was teased in the CGI trailer.
Mark the date on your calendar since Konami will be streaming the event live on many of the popular gaming websites and its own media channel.
