Konami tries to make up with Xbox 360 gamers – Video Games Update
After the disappointing news for Xbox 360 gamers yesterday that Konami had refused to release the Xbox 360 version of the patch for Silent Hill HD Collection, the developer has offered a free game to Xbox 360 gamers who bought the broken game.
Many gamers and long time Silent Hill fans were very disappointed with the quality of the Silent Hill High Definition (HD) Collection rerelease for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. It has been reported that the game was ported from an incomplete code
and therefore had many issues with the sound and the frame rate.
Yesterday, Konami released a patch to address all the known issues for the PlayStation 3 version of the game but stated that the developers was leaving the Xbox 360 gamers hanging as that version of Silent Hill HD would not be getting the update patch.
When contacted by numerous gaming sites, Konami responded yesterday that the company would continue to sell Silent Hill HD for the Xbox 360 even if it remains broken. Konami also stated that if gamers who purchased the game had any questions they could contact
Konami customer support.
This news greatly upset all the Xbox 360 gamers who had purchased the survival horror remake leading to a fan uproar in the official Silent Hill forums regarding the unethical decision by Konami to abandon the Xbox 360 fan-base. Many Xbox 360 gamers were
claiming that they were going to sell or return their copy of the game since it was unplayable with all the bugs.
In order to get back in the good books of gamers and to redeem its recently tarnished image, Konami has announced today that all those Xbox 360 gamers who purchased the game before August 8, 2012 can contact Konami Customer Support with a legitimate receipt
and they will be given a free Konami game from a list of selected titles from different platforms.
Even though it is a nice gesture, it does not make up for the fact that rushing the game out to the market was the true cause of this. Konami wouldn’t be in this situation if they had just taken the extra time to polish their game to remove all the nasty
bugs.
