Konrad Czerniak acquires Men’s 100m freestyle gold: Day four – British Gas Swimming Championships
Konrad Czerniak of Poland acquired gold medal of the Men’s Guest 100m freestyle on day four of the 2012 British Gas Swimming Championships at the London Aquatics Centre on Tuesday, March 6.
Czerniak stunned the arena with his invincible efforts in the 100m freestyle as he completed his sprint in a time of 49.46 seconds. With his irresistible efforts, he remained just 0.04 seconds ahead of Germany’s Markus Deibler, who followed him on the medal
rostrum for silver medal by clocking a time of 49.50 seconds. The third spot of the event was secured by Martin Verner of Czech Rep, who was only 0.07 seconds slower and posted a time of 49.57 seconds.
Next event of the session was Women’s Guest 200m butterfly, where Mireia Belmonte of Spain dictated terms to her challengers and seized the title of event. With her irresistible efforts, Belmonte sprinted her way towards the finishing blockade for gold medal
by posting a time of 2 minutes and 07.63 seconds.
The champion stayed 0.29 seconds ahead of Poland’s Otylia Jedrzejczak, who settled on the victory stand for silver medal with an effort of 2 minutes and 07.92 seconds. Sweden’s Martina Granstroem proved her eligibility for third position of the event as
she hit the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 08.99 seconds.
The last event of the session was Men’s Guest 200m breaststroke, where Laurent Carnol of Luxembourg spoiled the party of his competitors, who were eyeing the title of the event. Carnol remained prominently ahead of his rivals and posted an effort of 2 minutes
and 12.50 seconds for gold medal.
He was chased by Melquiades Alvarez of Spain, who remained 0.73 seconds behind and accomplished second position of the four-lap event by posting 2 minutes and 13.23 seconds. He was followed by Janghun Ju of Korea, who ended his sprint in a time of 2 minutes
and 14.67 seconds for bronze medal.
The crowd admired gruelling efforts of all international swimmers in their respective events while the position holders received medals for their undisputed feats at prize distribution ceremony of the championship.
