Konstyanyn Gaydar and Marit Bloemer earn 200m butterfly titles - 13th European Masters Championships
Konstyanyn Gaydar of Ukraine and Marit Bloemer of Germany earned the titles of Men’s and Women’s 200m butterfly respectively, on the third day of the 13th European Masters Championships, taking place in Yalta, Ukraine.
Gaydar displayed a remarkable swim in the Men’s four-lap butterfly swim and pocketed the title of the event by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 13.08 seconds. With his impressive effort, he maintained a lead of 2.54 seconds over his closest competitor,
Matthias Vauthier of Switzerland, who reached the victory stand for silver medal by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 15.62 seconds.
She was followed by Italian swimmer, Francesco Viola, who remained only 2.72 seconds slower than the silver medallist and secured the bronze medal of the event by posting a time of 2 minutes and 18.34 seconds.
In the meantime, the medal winners were trailed by Sergey Kruglov of Russia, who completed his swim in a fourth fastest time of 2 minutes and 22.75 seconds. The Russian was chased by Mark Billyard of Great Britain, who posted a time of 2 minutes and 23.64
seconds for the fifth position.
In the Women’s corner, Bloemer remained evident for the title of the 200m event, as she touched the finishing wall and posted a time of 2 minutes and 38.78 seconds. Bloemer’s gold winning effort placed her comfortably ahead of her following swimmer, Anna
Sedler, who remained 11.92 seconds behind the champion and touched the finishing wall to clock a time of 2 minutes and 50.70 seconds for the silver medal.
Similarly, Sedler managed a lead of almost 27 seconds over her strongest rival, Katarzyna Walenta of Poland, who occupied the bronze medal of the event by posting a time of 3 minutes and 17.75 seconds.
The crowd was excited with the gruelling efforts of all swimmers who struggled hard to escape each other for the podium finish. In addition, these winners received medals and accolades for their commendable efforts in the butterfly discipline after the completion
of the session.
