Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong stand a chance to get their form back at Malaysia Open Super Series
Malaysia’s Men’s Doubles elite shuttlers, Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong, who are suffering with a prolonged bad form, have got a chance to get back on the winning track at the home event of Malaysia Open Super Series 2012, which is in progress at Kuala
Lumpur, Malaysia.
The World Number Six Kien Keat and Tan Boon have been struggling hard to win a major tournament for a prolonged period of almost two years. They have a knack of losing to lower ranked shuttlers in major international tournaments and these bad performances
have affected their confidence as well.
In the last week’s Korea Open Premier Super Series, they lost to the lower ranked pair of Taiwan. But now they can bring their lost form back as they have a chance to prove their worth in front of their home fans by playing well in Malaysia Open.
While talking about their bad performance in Korea Open, Kien Keat said that they delivered their best but could not win the battle against the Taiwan’s pair.
He said, “Winning is important to us but, honestly, we gave our best before going down in the Korea Open (they lost 21-13, 20-22, 22-24 to Taiwan’s Fang Chien-min-Lee Sheng-mu). We played in challenging conditions but we understand that this cannot be used
as an excuse.”
However, he also added, “Things are much better for us now. We are serious in getting our game going but our finishing is not up to the mark. We are working on it and hope to regain the winning feeling again. Any of the top pairs can lose to anyone ranked
within the top 20.”
Kien Keat is confident that the pair will perform well in the home event and will not take any opponent for granted. According to him, every match will be tough one as the shuttlers in the top-20 bracket can defeat any top pair of the world on a given day.
Boon Heong and Kien Keat will start their campaign against India’s K. T. Rupesh Kumar and Sanave Thomas in the Men’s Doubles first round. A good performance in the Malaysia Open can put the Malaysian duo back on the winning track.
