Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong crashed out in the second round of Korea Open Premier Super Series
Malaysia’s top seeds, Koo Kien Keat and Tan boon Heong, continue their quivering run as they were crashed out in the Men’s Doubles second round by losing to Chieh Min Fang and Sheng Mu Lee of Chinese Taipei at the 2012 Korea Open Premier Super Series, at
Seoul, South Korea, on Thursday, January 5.
The World Number Six Kien Keat and Boon Heong, who were seeded at number five in the Men’s Doubles draw of Korea Open, failed to live up to expectations and lost their match against the un-seeded pair of Taipei. Chieh Min and Sheng Mu put up superb show
and won the battle in three games by taking 89 minutes.
In the opening game of the match, Kien Keat and Tan Boon started their campaign in a remarkable manner as they played with aggression and remained successful in setting up a wonderful lead in the opening half.
After the break, the Malaysians remained positive and focused in the game and dictated the pace of rallies. They did not let their Taipei rivals to fight back throughout the first game. Chieh Min and Sheng Mu could not play their normal game and lost the
set with a huge difference of 13-21.
In the following set, both pairs snapped each other’s heels by keeping the pace of rallies at the highest level. They entertained the local crowd by playing at their best and remained close until the score reached at the concluding phase.
Chieh Min and Sheng Mu geared up their speed at this crucial stage and managed to score two consecutive points to take the game with a 22-20 score on the board.
In the deciding game, Kien Keat and Boon Heong accelerated their speed at net and tried to put pressure on Taipei shuttlers from the opening rallies. However, Chieh Min and Sheng Mu also executed superb defensive strokes and remained close until the concluding
phase of deciding game.
At this stage, Chieh Min and Sheng Mu played smart badminton by taking the bird early and finished the game with a tight score of 24-22. The overall result of this mouth-watering contest was 13-21, 22-20 and 24-22.
