Koo Kien Keat and Tan boon Heong will follow the rules, says BAM secretary Ng Chin Chai
The secretary of Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), Ng Chin Chai, says that top Men’s Doubles shuttlers, Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong, will follow the rules in order to get rid of their prolonged poor performance at international stage.
The World Number Six shuttlers, Kien Keat and Boon Heong, have been suffering with humiliating defeats from several lower ranked opponents in many tournaments and have lost their confidence at the moment.
They have been struggling hard to win a major event for the last two years but failed to get the mark. BAM qualms over their poor performance and decided to let them work hard in training sessions under the rules made by officials.
BAM wants them to follow the same rules which have been set for all other shuttlers in the national squad.
Men’s Doubles chief coach, Tan Kim Her, stressed that both shuttlers will have to follow the regulations, which is the only way to put them back on the winning track.
According to the rules, Kien Keat and Boon Heong will attend all three training sessions on daily basis like all other shuttlers in the national team do.
This decision was taken by BAM officials in yesterday’s meeting in order to revive the lost confidence and form of the pair.
Chin Chai said, "We have had a fruitful discussion with the coaches as well as Kien Keat and Boon Heong and both have agreed to abide by the rules. We are not worried about immediate results but we want to see them at their best again in the Olympics.”
He further added, "The training is now the responsibility of not just Cheh Chang but also Kim Her and Yong Sung. As the head coach, Kim Her has accepted the responsibility of the pair's performance but the high performance committee and BAM will also be
accountable.”
Kien Keat and Boon Heong are ready to play according to the rules and regulations set by BAM and are determined to find their lost form at international stage.
BAM wants them to get back on track before 2012 London Olympics and perform well in the mega event.
