Koo Kien Keat to participate in the promotional campaign of the Solibad – Badminton Without Borders
Malaysia’s top seed in Men’s Doubles, Koo Kien Keat, will participate in the promotional campaign of the Solibad – Badminton Without Borders, a charity foundation, which has the
objective to work for the welfare of underprivileged children from around the world through the badminton community.
Koo Kien will participate in tomorrow’s gathering at the National Stadium at Bukit Jalil, Malaysia, to support the objectives of Solibad. He has also requested all badminton lovers
to support him for this great cause. The same kind of initiative will take place at the same time in 40 countries from all over the world.
Koo Kien said, “This gathering is for a good cause and I hope many fans from Malaysia will join me. This will be one of the biggest gatherings as Rexy Mainaky (head coach of the
men’s doubles squad), some of the badminton players and fans from over 60 cities in 40 countries will also take part in this flashmob at the same time in their own locations. It will be historic.”
The Malaysian is also a Solibad ambassador and has also worked many times to raise funds for many underprivileged children residing at an orphanage in Kuala Lumpur.
In tomorrow’s meeting at the National Stadium, badminton enthusiasts are expected to carry a t-shirt, shuttle c**k and racquet with them to show that the sport’s community, whether
they are professional players or just badminton fans, are there to support the deserving children in the entire world.
The Solibad – Badminton Without Borders has engaged many famous professional shuttlers from around all over the globe to work together for this great purpose. Among the most prominent
shuttlers who have now become ambassadors of Solibad are the World Number Three, Taufik Hidayat from Indonesia, who is the former world champion and Olympic gold medallist and Saina Nehwal of India, who is the World Number Four in Women’s Singles category.
Lee Yong Dae of Korea, Peter Hoeg Gade and Jan O Jorgensen from Denmark, Kenichi Tago of Japan, Nathan Robertson of England and Pi Hongyan of France are also some prominent shuttlers
who have become a part of the Solibad.
