Kookaburras dominating in FIH All Stars Teams
Australia is dominating in the All Stars hockey teams of International Hockey Federation (FIH) with the inclusion of five players and one Coach Ric Charlesworth. Australia has been displaying outstanding performances in the field of hockey for the last many
tournaments.
Some five players including Jamie Dwyer, Des Abbott, Eddie Ockenden, Casey Eastham and Madonna Blyth were chosen for the international squads of All Stars. Ric Charlesworth has been chosen as coach of the Men’s hockey squad of FIH All Stars along with Markus
Weise of Germany.
The captain of the Australian Men’s hockey team, Jamie Dwyer has recently achieved the FIH Player of the Year award for fourth time. Des Abbott the other player named for the FIH All Stars started his international debut back in 2007 and was part of the
squad which earned gold medal in the Champions Trophy 2008.
The third name for the Men’s squad of All Stars is Eddie Ockenden, who had acquired Young Player awards in the 2007 and 2008 editions of the Champions Trophy. He was also chosen as Young Player of the Year in 2008 by International Hockey Federation.
On the other side, Hockeyroos skipper, Madonna Blyth has been selected for the Women’s squad of All Stars. She is leading the national team of Australia since 2009 and it’s the third time she is making a cut into the FIH All Stars team. Casey Eastham the
second figure of Hockeyroos in the FIH Women’s squad is also an outstanding performer, who played vital role in the successes of the team. She was selected as Young Player of the Year in 2009 while chosen for FIH All Stars for the second time.
The Coach of Kookaburras, Ric Charlesworth was also selected as coach of the Men’s squad of FIH All Stars, who has a wonderful track record in the coaching profession. The inclusion of Ric Charlesworth is no surprising for anybody as the Kookaburras under
his coaching won the Champions Trophy, the World Cup and the Commonwealth Games earlier this year held in New Delhi, India.
Meanwhile, Kayla Sharland and Nick Wilson of New Zealand’s hockey team have been named in the FIH All Stars teams.
The legendary player of Black Sticks, Kayla Marie Sharland is included in the All Stars Women’s team of International Hockey Federation (FIH) for the first time. Kayla the 25-year-old player has achieved 118 caps in the international hockey for New Zealand,
standing seventh, fifth and second in the World Cup, the Champions Trophy and the Commonwealth Games respectively.
Nick Wilson the other player is going to make a maiden appearance in the FIH All Stars Men’s team, who has 79 caps for the New Zealand team. He made his international debut back in 2007 and represented the Black Sticks on many occasions.
Some 36 players along with four coaches belonging to different parts of the world have been selected for the FIH All Stars Men’s and Women’s teams, who all are outstanding and brilliant in their relevant places.
The Men’s team of FIH All Stars will include Ashley Jackson, James Fair and Barry Middleton of England, Guus Vogels and Teun de Nooijer of Netherlands, Rehan But of Pakistan, David Alegre of Spain, Jong Ho Seo of South Korea, Tobias Hauke, Matthias Witthaus,
Moritz Fürste and Max Muller of Germany, Nick Wilson of New Zealand, Sardara Singh of India and Lucas Villa of Argentina, Jamie Dwyer, Eddie Ockenden and Des Abbott of Australia.
The Women’s squad of FIH All Stars is comprised of Joyce Sombroek, Maartje Paumen and Naomi van As of Netherlands, Luciana Aymar, Noel Barrionuevo, Soledad Garcia, Carla Rebecchi of Argentina, Kayla Sharland of New Zealand, Fu Baorong and Zhao Yudiao of
China, Helen Richardson, Rani Rampal of India, Natascha Keller of Germany, Beth Storry and Crista Cullen of England, Marsha Marescia of South Africa, Casey Eastham and Madonna Blyth of Australia.
