Korea Grand Prix Gold 2012: Soo Jin Kim defeats Sannatasah Saniru in Women’s Singles first round
Soo Jin Kim, who is one of the most talented players in Korea, found a perfect start as she played with remarkable precision and defeated the higher ranked Sannatasah Saniru of Malaysia in Women’s Singles first round at Korea Grand Prix Gold 2012 in Korea,
on Wednesday, December 5.
The un-seeded Soo Jin was in staggering form in the arena and she cheered her home fans by unleashing her elite skills. She did not show any mercy to her fourth seeded Sannatasah in a dominating fashion in a 39-minute battle.
Korean player was at her best form as she played with terrific speed and confidence in front of her home crowd and remained successful in winning this thrilling contest in straight games with a reasonable total on the score board.
In contrast, the higher ranked Sannatasah failed to show up her aggression in the arena as she could not elevate her game at the crucial stages and eventually went down without winning any set.
It was a tough fight in the opening game when both ladies played to their maximum potential in initial rallies and stayed close in the arena.
However, the local shuttler started dictate the pace by increasing her speed and she remained successful in creating pressure on her higher ranked Malaysian challenger at the early stage.
Until the one-minute break, Sannatasah tried her level best to create a comfortable lead but she failed to get even a slight advantage as her rival was playing with incredible speed.
After the break, this fight progressed in the similar fashion and both ladies continued putting up strong show without dropping the pace of rallies at any stage.
However, in the ending points, Soo Jin showed her brilliance and played positive badminton while remaining quick which helped her to take the first game with a close margin of 21-19.
In the second game, the Malaysians shuttler increased her speed but failed to shake the impressive defence of her local opponent and remained struggling until the end of opening half.
After the break, Soo Jin continued her incredible play in the arena and she did not spare any chance to earn points. She remained positive all the way and finished off the second game with a 21-16 score on the board.
The Korean lady remained successful in showing exit to her higher ranked Malaysian rival in straight games with a decent margin of 21-19 and 21-16.
