Korea Grand Prix Gold: Dong Keun Lee topples Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk to claim Men’s Singles title
Korea’s talented player Dong Keun Lee made his home fans proud as he claimed Men’s Singles title after defeating Thailand’s Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk in the final battle at Korea Grand Prix Gold 2012 in Korea, on Sunday, December 9.
The un-seeded Dong Keun, who showed a tremendous performance throughout the championship, continued his staggering run on court and remained successful in winning the final battle in 55 minutes.
Korean shuttler did not show any mercy to his higher ranked Thai challenger in the title match as he played with remarkable precision and managed to end up the contest in straight games with a comprehensive margin on the board.
Meanwhile, the fourth seeded Tanongsak failed to maintain his upper hand in the final clash against his local challenger. He played quivering badminton and eventually went down against Dong Keun in straight sets.
It was a wonderful fight in the initial points when both contestants showed their aggression and stayed close on the board at the initial stage.
However, Dong Keun was incredibly comfortable in taking the bird early and he did not encounter any trouble in executing his strokes in right areas.
The lower ranked Korean player did not show any respect to his passionate challenger in the starting part and established a superb lead on score board.
After the mid-game interval, Dong Keun was focused on court and remained successful in maintaining a sound gap.
It was an uninterrupted ride for the impressive Dong Keun who did not face any considerable opposition from his challenger and won the first set with a superb 21-17 difference on the board.
In the second game, Dong Keun did not lose his supremacy at any stage in the first part of second set as he played with control and aggression.
Korean man displayed his tremendous craft in the arena by picking the bird timely from all corners and kept his domination over his opponent.
Dong Keun was calm and composed in the arena in the ending points of second set and bagged the second game with a sound margin of 21-14.
The incredible Korean shuttler cheered his home fans by ending up the final match in a dictating fashion with a 21-17 and 21-14 score on the board.
