Niluka Karunaratne, who is one of the most promising shuttlers from Sri Lanka, showed a staggering performance in the arena and remained successful in crushing Indonesia’s Wisnu Yuli Prasetyo in Men’s Singles round-of-16 clash at Korea Grand Prix Gold 2012
on Thursday, December 6, in Korea.
The higher ranked Sri Lankan player, who holds the second position in Men’s Singles seeding in the tournament, displayed his remarkable skills and managed to thrash his lower ranked Indonesian rival in 45 minutes.
Niluka unleashed his impressive smashes from the early stage of the contest and managed to end up this pre-quarter-final clash in straight sets with a striking margin on the score board.
Meanwhile, the lower ranked Wisnu tried his best to play attacking and positive badminton but he could not manage any considerable lead all the way and eventually crashed out at the round-of-16 stage.
In the opening game, the higher ranked Niluka performed remarkably well from the opening rallies as he played all of his skills and grabbed the control of the game.
Niluka was quite comfortable in taking the bird early and he did not encounter any problem in hitting his strokes in right areas.
Until the one-minute break in the first game, Niluka stayed fully focused and he easily managed a reasonable lead on score board.
After the mid-game interval, the in-form Niluka stayed focused on court and remained successful in maintaining a comfortable gap.
Niluka remained consistent in executing powerful shots in targeted areas and eventually bagged the opening game with a staggering margin of 21-16.
Wisnu was once again in problem in the following set as he faced a hostile treatment from his challenger who was at his best on court.
Sri Lankan player displayed his unparalleled skills on court by picking the bird early from all areas and kept his domination over his challenger.
Niluka continued putting up staggering show in the ending part of second game and remained successful in securing the game with a superb 21-14 total on score board.
The in-form Sri Lankan man remained successful in winning this Men’s Singles round-of-16 clash in straight sets with a crushing total of 21-16 and 21-14.
