Korea’s top shuttler Sung Ji Hyun continued her elevated performance and reached into Women’s Singles semi-final after thrashing Singapore’s Jiayuan Chen in quarter-final clash at Korea Grand Prix Gold 2012 in Korea, on Friday, December 7.
The World Number Eight Ji Hyun, who is the top seed in the Women’s Singles seeding of the tournament, stayed fully focused in her play and remained successful in giving a severe lesson to her lower ranked Singaporean challenger who was the seventh seed in
the main draw.
The local shuttler was in smashing form and she entertained her home fans by playing terrific badminton and managed to crush her experienced opponent in a lopsided fashion. She ended up this quarter-final battle in two games with a huge difference on score
board.
On the other hand, the lower ranked Jiayuan failed to continue her convincing performance in the arena as she was helpless against the power play of her Korean challenger and eventually went down in straight games without showing a strong resistance.
