Korea Open GP Gold: Jung Jae Sung and Lee Yong Dae enter into Men’s Doubles final with dignity
Korea’s top seeds Jung Jae Sung and Lee Yong Dae advance into Men’s Doubles final with dignity as they have crushed China’s Hong Wei and Shen Ye in the semi-final contest of the 2011 Korea Open GP Gold, in Korea, on Saturday, December 10.
The top seeds of the tournament and World Number Two shuttlers, Jae Sung and Yong Dae proved their superior skills and won the battle against the Wei and Shen of China, who are currently ranked at number 22 in the Men’s Doubles world rankings.
The Koreans faced no problem at any stage of the game and finished up the contest in straight games by taking just 37 minutes of the court time.
The top seeds remained in complete control of the game in the opening set and took it easily. However, in the second set, the Chinese duo tried to play fast game in the opening points but failed to control the pace and lost the second set without putting
up strong show against the higher ranked Koreans.
Right from the opening set of this semi-final battle, Jae Sung and Yong Dae played remarkable badminton as they showed no mercy to their lower ranked Chinese rivals. They played attacking game coupled with strong pushes and wonderful net shots.
The Chinese pair failed to match the speed of the Korean opponents, who were progressing far ahead. Jae Sung and Yong Dae won the opening set in style by a superb margin of 21-14 in 19 minutes.
In the following set, Chinese shuttlers accelerated their speed in the starting rallies but failed to destroy the defence of their higher ranked opponents. Jae Sung and Yong Dae were quite comfortable in returning the smashes in the right areas.
The impressive play of the Koreans helped them to take the second game with a one-sided margin of 21-14. Jae Sung and Yong Dae emerged as the winners in this 37-minute semi-final battle with a margin of 21-14 and 21-14.
In the title match, Jae Sung and Yong Dae will play against their team-mates, Ko Sung Hyun and Yoo Yeon Seong, who defeated their younger compatriots Ji Wook Kang and Sa Rang Kim in the other semi-final showdown.
