Korea Open Premier Super Series: Chan Yan Kit beats Henri Hurskainen in qualifying round contest
Hong Kong’s Chan Yan Kit has entered into the next stage of Men’s Singles qualifying round as he has defeated Henri Hurskainen of Sweden in his first encounter at the 2012 Korea Open Premier Super Series, in Korea, on Tuesday, January 3.
Yan Kit, who is currently World Number 39 in Men’s Singles world rankings, proved his elevated skills against the Swedish rival and emerged as the winner in three games by taking 44 minutes in the court. Hurskainen failed to put up strong resistance in the
final set of the contest.
The opening game was interesting when Yan Kit won it after putting up superb show. In the following game, the Hong Kong shuttler lost his control over the pace of rallies and lost the game with a huge difference. However, in the final set, he delivered stunning
performance and won the set with a completely one-sided score.
Yan Kit opened the first game in a relaxed way but remained in complete control of the rallies. The score was quite close until the opening half of the match. However, after the break, he remained successful in taking a reasonable lead and maintained it
in the whole set and won it with a score of 21-16.
In the following game, Hurskainen played top quality badminton by overcoming on his errors. He dominated the game by coming fast at net and also executed powerful smashes from the back of the court with wonderful accuracy. Yan Kit did not play fast badminton
in this game and lost it without impressing the crowd with a margin of 14-21.
In the deciding game, Yan Kit came in the court with a completely different approach as he took no time in setting up an incredible lead in the first half of the set. He remained in wonderful control of the rallies and spared no chance for his rival to level
the score until the one-minute break.
After the break, the Hong Kong Shuttler continued his remarkable play without slowing down his speed in the whole set and ended it with a stunning 21-6 score on the board. The overall result of this Men’s Singles qualifying round contest was 21-16, 14-21
and 21-6.
