Korea Open Premier Super Series: China’s Xu Chen and Ma Jin claim Mixed Doubles title
China’s talented shuttlers, Xu Chen and Ma Jin, have proved their superiority as they have claimed Mixed Doubles title after beating Korea’s Lee Yong Dae and Jung Eun Ha in the title match of the 2012 Korea Open Premier Super Series on Sunday, January 8,
in Korea.
Xu and Ma, who have been placed at number 2 in the Mixed Doubles world standings, played terrific badminton and emerged as the winner against the home favourites, Yong Dae and Jung Eun. The Chinese couple took 72 minutes to get rid of the stubborn Koreans
in an entertaining rubber-set fight.
The opening game of this Mixed Doubles title match was completely one sided as Xu and Ma played flawless badminton. The Koreans remained struggling in the whole set and also committed numerous unforced mistakes. The Chinese duo established a superb lead
in the opening half of the game.
After the interval, Xu and Ma did not slow down the pace of rallies and continued playing killing badminton from all areas of the court. They did not face any considerable resistance as the Korean couple did not play attacking badminton. Xu and Ma finished
the first set with a remarkable margin of 21-12.
In the second game, the Koreans lifted up their level of play and remained close to their higher ranked opponents. The Chinese shuttlers failed to take lead this time as their rivals played positive and aggressive game.
Xu and Ma committed a few mistakes in the concluding part of the second game and lost the set with a 19-21 score.
In the final set, Xu and Ma showed their class and destroyed the hopes of local fans by playing flawless game. They remained far ahead of their Koreans opponents and established a fabulous lead in the first half.
After the one-minute break, Xu and Ma raced away in the game as their opponents could not compete well in this deciding game. The Chinese couple finished the final game with a stunning difference of 21-10.
This 72-minute rubber-set title match ended with a 21-12, 19-21 and 21-10 score on the board.
