Korea Open Premier Super Series: Lee Yong Dae and Jung Eun Ha reach into Mixed Doubles semi-final
Korea’s talented shuttlers, Lee Yong Dae and Jung Eun Ha, prove their worth as they have reached into Mixed Doubles semi-final after beating higher ranked Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir of Indonesia in the quarter-final encounter of the 2012 Korea Open
Premier Super Series on Friday, January 6, in Korea.
Yong Dae and Jung Eun played to their maximum potential and stunned the World Number Four couple of Tontowi and Liliyana in a superb rubber-set contest. They consumed 55 minutes in the court and ended the road for the Indonesians.
In this Mixed Doubles fight, Tontowi and Liliyana were the favourites on paper as they are considered among the best shuttler in the world of badminton. But they failed to live up to the expectations as their local opponents played flawless badminton and
cheered the home fans by winning the match.
The Korean shuttlers played to their maximum speed and won the first set easily. However, they failed to continue their impressive performance in the second game and lost it without any resistance.
In the final game, Yong Dae and Jung Eun played better badminton and won the match to enter into semi-final of the Korea Open.
In the opening set of the match, both sides displayed wonderful skills in the starting rallies. However, Yong Dae and Jung Eun dominated the game and won it with a remarkable 21-16 score on the board.
In the second game, Tontowi and Liliyana changed their strategy and played with precision this time. They eliminated all of his errors and remained successful in maintaining pressure on the local challengers.
Yong Dae and Jung Eun could not match the speed of their opponents and lost the second set with a 15-21 score on the board.
In the deciding game of this superb contest, both sides showed their impressive skills by playing fast and positive badminton. However, Yong Dae and Jung Eun established a reasonable lead in the ending phase of the set and took it with a good score of 21-16.
The final score of this 55-minute Mixed Doubles quarter-final battle was 21-16, 15-21 and 21-16.
