Korea Open Premier Super Series: Marc Zwiebler beats Hsu Jen Hao to secure a quarter-final berth
Germany’s top shuttler, Marc Zwiebler, has penetrated into Men’s Singles quarter-final after beating Chinese Taipei’s Hsu Jen Hao in round-of-16 contest at the 2012 Korea Open Premier Super Series in Korea, on Thursday, January 5.
The World Number 15 Zwiebler, who has been delivering good performance at major international events for the last one year, worked really hard to chuck out his Taipei opponent. The German player emerged as the winner in a superb three-set fight in 83 minutes.
Zwiebler was in terrific form as he displayed his superb skills in the first game and took it without any problem. However, he failed to continue his smashing run in the second set and lost it with a tight score. He came back in the final set and took it
with a decent score on the board.
It was a thrilling contest in the starting points between both aggressive shuttlers they put up an amazing show of top quality badminton. However, until the break, Zwiebler managed a comfortable lead by employing his perfect strokes in the right areas.
After the break, Zwiebler injected more speed into his strokes and stretched his lead. Jen Hao failed to execute strokes in the right areas and remained trailing far behind his rival. The higher ranked German ended the opening set with a comfortable margin
of 21-14.
In the following game, the Taipei shuttler accelerated his speed and lifted up his level of play. He remained positive this time and matched the speed of his higher ranked challenger until the score reached at the concluding stage.
Zwiebler tried his best to dominate the game at this stage but his opponent was quicker in all areas of the court. He failed to control the pace of rallies at the ending points of the second game and lost it with a 19-21 score on the board.
In the deciding set, both shuttlers played fast badminton and remained close until the one-minute break. However, Zwiebler took over the control by playing fast and positive badminton and finished the deciding set with a decent score of 21-17.
The final result of this round-of-16 battle was 21-14, 19-21 and 21-17.
