Korea crushes Japan to advance into Final of Uber Cup 2012 – Badminton Update
It seems there is no end to Korean expedition as they convincingly marched into Finals of Uber Cup by trouncing Japan in semi-final match on May 24, 2012.
They did not give any counter attack opportunity to their rivals and bagged three consecutive games. The final result of 3-0 permitted them to proceed in race for glory in the prestigious team event.
On the other hand, the Japanese campaigners could not break their limits and got pale in front of higher ranked opponents.
The top female Singles shuttler Sung Ji Hyun set the foundation of this splendid triumph by stamping Sayaka Sato in just two games.
In first set of the contest, World Number 11 player dominated from very first shot to the last. She established a decent advantage of four points and maintained her supremacy until game point situation.
She bagged opening set with six-point lead in final margin of 21-15.
Next segment of the show saw the Korean girl in prime touch as she first gain an unassailable lead with 11-3 and then outclassed her opponent by registering a significant total of 21-10.
However, Women’s Doubles tie proved a nerve-racking tussle as both contestants chased each other all the way to three gruelling sets which lasted for one hour and 24 minutes.
There was lot of drama in this contest as first World number three pair Ha Jung Eun-Kim Min Jung clinched opening set with concluding figure of 21-13 then the Japanese duo levelled match score by winning second set with 21-17.
The decider kept swinging between two contenders in first half but Ha Jung and Kim Min struck hard in later half and earned crucial point for their team with 21-14 score on board.
Women’s Singles expert Bae Youn Joo was the person who wrote last chapter of this splendid victory saga as her challenger Eriko Hirose surrendered after a futile exercise of 49 minutes.
The Korean lady mounted pressure by grabbing opening set with 21-15 and then made best out of it by sealing a straight-set victory with 21-17 total.
It was a wrap as Japanese decided to walk away from remaining two games and allowed Korea to march into Finals where they will test their skills against top favourites China.
