  1. Although Japan is separated by sea, culturally Korea is a bridge between China and Japan.

  2. Culturally, Korea is influenced by both Japan and China.  These two nations fought for control of the area in the first half of the 20th Century in the Sino-Japanese Wars.

  3. The Korean Peninsula is divided into two separate nations, North Korea and South Korea. However, the name "Korea" is often used to refer to South Korea due to its greater economic significance and influence in the world.

  4. Korea is divided into two nations by a UN peace treaty in 1953.  This line of division is known as the 38th parallel.

Above this "38th parallel" is North Korea, while below it is South Korea.

No Alex.  It was Russia and Japan that fought a war over Korea.  This ran from 1904 to 1905.  And it was called the Russo - Japanese war.  China had nothing to do with it.  They had recently been squashed by several western powers in the boxer rebellion.  (The last paragraph is an edit.)

  5. As Korea happens to be a peninsula and shares a border only with China, it's difficult to understand the claim that it somehow serves as a landbridge.

  6. china,north korea,south korea.
