Korea sweeps Vietnam in classification match of 16th Asian Women Volleyball tournament
With the first round of the 16th Asian Women Volleyball tournament over and done, the participating teams are now in the running for the 1 to 8 classification matches of the championship in Chinese Taipei. On September 19, Korea and Vietnam battled
each other in the Pool F of the championship. Korea dominated after completing three in a row winning streak.
The first set of the match saw sluggish play from the Vietnamese as the Koreans raced forward. However, Vietnam was able to step up in the second set. After putting up an impressive fight, the Vietnamese lost another frame but started off the third one with
determination as well. Unfortunately for Vietnam, Korea was able to seal the deal on the match at the following final set scores: 25-12, 26-24 and 25-23.
The Koreans did a quick job of winning the match that took only 70 minutes to reach its close.
The first set of the match started off with the Koreans dominating as they took the lead and were able to stretch it further as the set progressed. The Vietnamese could not do much to cater to the forceful play of the Koreans and kept trailing behind as
their rivals sailed smoothly towards a match win at 25-12. The blocking of the Korean team was doing such a good job that it got them a total of 10 points in the first set.
The second set started off with both the teams on pretty level ground as neither was letting the other take the lead for too long. The match went back and forth until it reached the middle stages when the Vietnamese were seen emerging with a lead of 18-16.
Vietnam was able to stay in the game till the later stages at 24-23 and the game got intense. However, the Koreans were in no mood to give up so they swung the set in their favour to bag a win at 26-24.
The third set took on a thrilling tone as both the Vietnamese as well as the Koreans put on a good performance. Both the teams were almost neck to neck for the most part but eventually Korea was successful in getting a win at 25-23.
The main factor in the Korean win was the height of the Korean team that provided them with a distinct advantage. The Vietnamese were seen struggling all through the match as the Koreans rained down relentless kills. The attacking moves by the Vietnamese
were also blocked by the tall Korean players giving the winners another positive point.
