Korean Grand Prix: Ferrari adamant to steal maximum points from their rivals
Ferrari has never failed to stay in the news. For one reason or the other the team has always managed to make headlines. Whether it is because of good performance or poor, they are embraced by the media.
This year the Italian team saw a lulled start but they were able to bounce back by around mid season. Their controversial one-two finish at the German Grand Prix brought the team-driver, Fernando Alonso back to the contention of the title. Despite heavy
criticism, the two time World Champion proved his potential once again and from his previous fifth place in the Drivers’ Championship now stands at second place, only 14 points adrift the championship leader Mark Webber.
Now, as all the teams head for the 17th round of the season, the Spaniard is looking forward to bagging another victory to ensure his dominance in the points’ tally. Moreover, his teammate Felipe Massa has also vowed to help Alonso as much as
he can, despite all the hot words exchanged between the driver and his team.
Today, as the teams ran for the qualifying session for the Korean Grand Prix, Alonso was able to end at 3rd place whereas his teammate once again finished poorly at 6th
place.
The Spaniard, while talking about tomorrow’s Grand Prix said that he is ready to give his best and is satisfied with his finish in the qualifying, though he was fighting for the pole position. At the press-conference, held after the qualifying session he
said, “I am satisfied with how things went in qualifying and I think I showed all the potential of our car. In Q1, I felt that we could be really competitive, which was then reinforced in Q2 and Q3. Then, with pole having escaped me, I think that it is better
to be third rather than second, because starting from the dirty side would be very difficult.”
The pole-sitter Sebastian Vettel and Alonso would be starting from the cleaner side of the track while Mark Webber and Lewis Hamilton would be starting from the dusty side.
On the other hand, the other Ferrari driver Massa thinks that the qualifying had been very poor for him. He was looking for a better position on the grid as the last round in Japan saw him performing very poorly in the qualifying sessions and later on, he
ended pointless after getting into a very silly crash.
Now, as he talked to the press earlier today he said, “I was very pleased at the end of Q2, because the car was more competitive than yesterday and I thought I could fight for a top place. Unfortunately, I had a bit of traffic on the only run I did in Q3
on my last set of new soft tyres: a shame because the car was going well, but I was not able to get the most out of it.”
However, he seems happy with his car and believes that he would be able to come up with better results this Sunday. Though he is a little concerned for his grid position due to which he would have to start the race from the less clean side of the grid which
could be very challenging.
Moreover, there are predictions for rain on the track tomorrow which could make it even more slippery. The track is newly built and the final layer of asphalt was laid only two weeks ago, due to which driving is already very demanding.
Still, both team drivers are adamant to do their best, stealing as many points as possible from their rivals.
