Korean Grand Prix: Red Bull returns jubilant from the Qualifying Session
The 2010 Formula One season had been a great one for the ‘Red Bull Racing’ right from the beginning. One after the other rounds, they have been seen dominating the track as the Formula One caravan moved all across the globe.
Now as the drivers go ahead for the Korean Grand Prix, the 17th race of the season the Austrian team has all its stars shinning bright once again. Both its drivers, Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber, after showing great form during the practice
sessions, ended brilliantly at the qualifying.
Vettel was able to secure the pole place for tomorrow’s race while Webber ended for 2nd place on the grid. The team had been strong all through the season and currently claims the apex of both the Drivers’ as well as the Constructors’ Championship.
With the brilliant last round in Japan, earlier this month, the team has a total of 426 points under its belt standing a place ahead of its strongest rival of the season, McLaren. The British team has 381 points in total and is followed by Ferrari. With
334 points, though the Italian team are out of the Constructors’ Championship battle however, their driver Fernando Alonso is still the biggest threat for Red Bull in the Drivers’ Championship.
At the points’ tally Mark Webber of Red Bull, leads the charts with his 220 points and has also bagged four race wins so far. The first one he had at Spain, followed by his consecutive win in Monaco, while the 3rd victory was bagged by him in
Great Briton and then he was seen at the top of the podium in Hungary as well. On the other hand, Vettel stands at 3rd place in the charts a place behind Alonso, while both have equal points, 206.
Vettel had been able to bag three victories this season; the last one was at Suzuka Track in Japan at the last race, while he conquered the Malaysian and European Grand Prix earlier this year. Moreover, he had also been able to gain pole positions seven
times this season which is the most by any driver in the past sixteen races.
A very good omen for the team at this time of the season, when they are all struggling so hard, is Vettel’s pole position. The driver started the Japanese Grand Prix from the pole as well and was able to bag victory. Now this makes the team believe that
a pole can once again help him get a victory.
As both the team drivers came back to their teams after the successful qualifying Christian Horner, the Red Bull Team Principal was jubilant at their venture of the day. As per him both the drivers are equally ambitious and are giving their best to get the
maximum for the team.
Moreover, he has also announced a number of times all through the season that the team is not going to be biased with any of them, and would provide equal support and assistance to both the men whenever required.
While talking to the media during the post-qualifying press conference, Horner was much excited to tell, “A fantastic team performance today. A one two start on the grid at this new circuit is a great result and the drivers were again split by the narrowest
of margins. They elected to take different strategies in Q3, Sebastian focused on two one-lap runs while Mark elected to do two laps on his last run.”
The proud man further added, “The difference between the two of them was almost identical to the gap in Japan, so a great team performance. We need to continue this tomorrow and hopefully the weather won’t interfere with the race.”
