1. Nope, I don't think Korea will ever go back to monarchy - although I wish it would... That'd be really nice! However, it would be really complicated to set up the monarchy again because descendants of Korean Royal Family (i'm one of them) are scattered all across and it'd be hard to figure out the ranks... I'm related to King Saejong and Prince Hyonyung, but it's really confusing because there are many Koreans who are related to parts of the royal families, actually. it's really cool, but yeah... that'd be awesome, but i highly doubt it! sorry. =( hope i helped!

edit: A. S. - I saw your post, and to answer your question - yes, there is an heir - he was the son or grandson or something was was directly related to the last king of Korea. I find that interesting and cool! =) but i think he passed away... =(

  2. While one should never say never, I doubt Korea will ever go back to a monarchy unless there were exceptional circumstances like a reunification of the North and South. A monarch who is not a member of either countries political parties might make a decent compromise in that case if they couldn't agree on who should be head of state.

As to your second question I would say no but then again if the Korean people wanted it I could go along with it. My main concern is that any type of government should not just simply be imposed on people and historically a lot of monarchies were.

Just out of curiousity is there any heir apparent to the Korean throne? Would he be a king or an emperor?

  3. Korea is a divided nation and north and south are lead by different governments.I don't think it's possible for a monarchy to be reinstated in Korea.

And as to if I want a monarchy reinstated,I have no strong feelings because of the divisions there.I want a government that works for all of Korea(preferably not a communist-style regime).Monarchy would be an option!

  4. Not anymore!

  5. I think it would be great to have a monarchy in South Korea to be honest but I don't think all of those tax-payers want their money to be used for a monarchy that doesn't really have much political power. But then again, WHO KNOWS?

Anyways, I wish I was related to a monarch =P

But I am the descendant of a royal minister in the royal court, which is kind of awesome !
