My best friend was born in Korea, and was adopted 3 weeks after...she has been very hesitant about learning about her heritage, but is becoming more intrigued by it as she becomes older...so much as to want to visit there soon...I would like to get her a gift that resembles her heritage, so she can a have a little piece of that...any ideas? Thanks for any and all the help anyone can give me!

  1. modern heritage, maybe a drama series. like coffee prince, princess hours, my girl, or stairway to heaven. but if you want more of those "culturefied" ones. try hong gil dong, eesan, dae jang geum.

you can buy her a hanbok, the traditional korean dress. its pretty pricey, but if youre willing. those dresses are really pretty so im sure she'll like to wear it.

  2. maybe korean chopsticks..the steel ones a spoon and a pair of chopsticks set. that's what separates them from chinese and japanese who use ivory or wood for their chopsticks. for koreans, the steel chopsticks sets them apart =)

  3. thats so nice that you want to do that! Sorry have no idea

  4. a korean necklace would be nice.  i know i'd want one.  i hope u find the right gift for ur friend

  5. Wrist watch called world time.

It is very convenient watch, for example, if she is in korea she knows what time is it now in US, Canada, Italy. France,,,,simultaneously.

    Have a nice day !!

  6. You can try getting her some korean tea!

  7. how about a jewelry dat she can use....

but dont buy her the jewelry dat can easily break...

    so its useful... XD

    hope i help!

  8. Try a Korean woman doll in the beautiful traditional hanbok clothing.  It would like a little Korean Princess.

A book on Korean Culture and or language maybe a great idea.

Understanding the culture more may help her understand what happend in her past.  Like the Mother may have been hoping and wishing that her daughter could have a better life in America, better than she could provide at the time.

There dozens of great Korean kids songs.  Personally I love em.  I translated one to English here and recorded it for fun. (I was a bit of a music celebrity for kids):

I lived about ten years over there. So a CD with some of their music might be a nice idea.

Also giving her a DVD with English subtitles is a great idea too.

    Try this one.

It shows a lot about the people, the way life and family attitudes and tragic history.  I do think the country does suffer from a broken heart, from the tragic war and the dividing of the country.

    Good luck!!

  9. How about Korea's traditional clothing, Han-Bok. They are beautiful and nice to have. Or maybe little magnets that have People wearing Han-Bok. (It's real cute.)
