The Korean shuttlers proved their worth against the English team by beating them with a 4-1 margin in the Sudirman Cup 2011 at Qingdao, China, on Monday, May 23.
In the opening Mixed Doubles match, Korea’s Yong Dae Lee – Jung Eun Ha won the first point of the match by beating Jenny Wallwork – Nathan Robertson in a thrilling three-set fight.
The English pair played a superb game in the opening set of the match, whereas the Korean couple remained trailing behind and lost the set 19-21. The Koreans made a strong come back and clinched the second game by a difference of 21-17. In the final set,
the Korean couple dominated the game and grabbed the final set by a 21-15 margin.
In the Men’s Singles category, Rajiv Ouseph of England stunned everybody by beating the top seed of Korea, Sung Hwan Park, in a thrilling fight that lasted 44 minutes. Rajiv proved that he has got a certain level of skill, as he defeated Park in straight
sets of 25-23 and 21-16.
In the category of Men’s Doubles, Korea’s Yeon Seong Yoo – Sung Hyun Ko faced no considerable resistance from the English pair of Anthony Clark – Christopher Langridge, in beating them with a 21-16 and 21-13 margin. The English pair could not stop the aggressive
run of the Koreans, who were playing at their best.
Korea’s Youn Joo Bae had to work extra hard to beat Elizabeth Cann of England in a superb three set match. The Korean lost the opening set by a three-point margin of 18-21. However, she bounced back in the second game and won it by 21-18 margin. In the third
and final game, she spared no chance for Elizabeth to score easy points and grabbed the set by a one-sided margin of 21-8.
In the category of Women’s Doubles, Ming Jung Kim – Jung Eun Ha brushed aside to the English pair of Jenny Wallwork – Gabrielle White in straight games with a stunning margin of 21-9 and 21-8.
