Korean track explored by Ferrari drivers
The virgin track of South Korea is getting ready for its maiden race. The first South Korean Grand Prix is scheduled to take place this weekend at its newly built track. Just a day ago the very first of the Formula One drivers cruised through the track discovering
it for the first time ever.
The 17th race of the 2010 season is scheduled to take place this weekend amidst a lot of thrill and action. The caravan of cars is getting ready to explore the new track as not much is already known about it. So far almost all the drivers have spent considerable
time in understanding the track with the help of simulators. However, only Ferrari actually knows that driving on a track practically is nothing like understanding it theoretically.
Both the team drivers, Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa have taken the lead over all the drivers in discovering the track layout and characteristics. As the Italian team reached Korea earlier today, the drivers were keen to go and have a look at the latest
track of the Formula One calendar. The twosome went through the Yeongam circuit on bicycle, finding it to be one of the most exciting riding experiences they have had in years.
Only a few minutes back the team announced through its official twitter account, “Fernando and Felipe already discovered the Yeongam circuit by bike. Many of the mechanics and engineers opted to run: for sure more fitness”.
Moreover, as Alonso cruised through the early parts of the track he excitedly reported to his team, ‘First impressions are positive”.
Although, it was already dark at the venue, still the determined men wanted to explore as much as they cold before they called it a day. It has also been reported that the workers and organisers are still busy working in Yeongam and are expected to keep
going on all through the night as well.
There is only one more day to go, before the track would be officially opened to embrace the rally of cars for its very first practice season this Friday and then Sunday will see the maiden Formula One Grand Prix on Korean soil.
The event has seen a lot of uncertainty as the construction work delayed immensely. As per FIA rules, final inspection, is supposed to take place 60 days ahead of the race. However, special lenience was shown for this track as only ten days ago FIA gave
the green signal to the organisers, after carrying out the final inspection on 11th of October.
